What does Baat do for home service businesses?

For home service businesses such as repairs, cleaning, AC servicing and pest control, Baat runs bookings and customer updates on WhatsApp. A short form inside the chat takes the booking, your job system sends technician and arrival updates through the API, an AI agent answers price and availability questions, and customers are reminded when the next service is due.

Home service customers book on impulse and cancel just as easily. A customer whose AC has stopped messages three companies and books the first one that gives a time slot. After booking, they call to ask when the technician will come, and the dispatcher stops work to answer. When the job is done, nobody asks for a review, and nobody reminds the customer three months later that the next pest control treatment or AC service is due.

Example conversation

A booking and an arrival time, no calls.

The customer books in the evening, gets a slot, and knows when the technician will arrive. The dispatcher only steps in if something changes.

  • AI Agents: Price, area and availability questions get an answer at any hour, and bookings that need judgement go to a person.
  • Shared Inbox: Dispatchers and supervisors share one number, and each booking is owned by one person until the job is done.
  • Journey Builder: Booking replies, confirmations and repeat-visit reminders run on their own, on a timing you choose.

  1. Hi, my split AC is not cooling. Can someone come tomorrow? 7:15 PM
  2. Hello Meena. Yes, we have slots tomorrow between 10 AM and 1 PM, or 3 PM and 6 PM in Koramangala. Which suits you? 7:16 PM
  3. 10 to 1 please. 7:20 PM
  4. Booked. Our technician Suresh will message you when he is on the way tomorrow morning. 7:21 PM

Automation

The next visit books itself.

A journey starts when a customer replies to a service-due reminder. It offers time slots, confirms the booking, and passes it to your dispatcher. Customers who do not reply get one more reminder.

  1. Customer replies to the service-due reminder
  2. Send the booking form with time slots
  3. Customer picks a slot
  4. Send the confirmation with date and time

Why do home service customers prefer WhatsApp?

Because the need is urgent and the call is inconvenient. A customer with a leaking tap or a dead AC wants a time slot quickly, often in the evening, and does not want to wait on hold. A message gets a reply while they get on with their evening. The business that offers a confirmed slot first usually gets the job.

WhatsApp also keeps the details in one thread: the address area, the slot, the technician’s name and the final bill. The customer does not have to repeat any of it.

How do arrival updates reduce calls?

Most calls to a dispatcher ask one question: when will the technician come? Answer it before it is asked. When your job system assigns a technician, or the technician starts travelling, it can call Baat’s API and send the customer an approved template message. The dispatcher only steps in when the customer replies with a change.

Technicians can also use the Baat mobile app to message the customer from the company number. Customers never need a technician’s personal number, and every message stays on record.

How do you win the repeat visit?

Many home services repeat. An AC needs servicing before summer. Pest control works best as a schedule of treatments. A deep clean comes around before festivals. Remind customers who opted in when their next visit is due, and let them book by replying. A customer who books again with you is one who did not search for someone else.

Can services be listed in a WhatsApp catalogue?

Not on the WhatsApp Business Platform. Meta’s Commerce Policies list home maintenance services, including cleaning, plumbing, painting and electrical work, among the services that cannot be offered through catalogues there. A booking form inside the chat does the same job without breaking the rules.

What do WhatsApp's rules mean for home service businesses?

  • Meta's Commerce Policies do not allow home maintenance services, including cleaning, construction, painting, plumbing and electrical work, to be offered through catalogues on the WhatsApp Business Platform. Take bookings in the conversation, or with a form, instead of a catalogue.
  • Do not ask customers to send ID card numbers, bank account numbers or full card numbers over WhatsApp. Meta's policy does not allow it.
  • Message only customers who agreed to receive WhatsApp messages from you. Updates about a job they booked are expected. Service-due reminders and offers need their opt-in.

Checked against Meta's own policy pages on 21 October 2026: Meta Commerce Policies: Services, WhatsApp Business Policy. Meta changes these rules from time to time, so read the current version before you start.

Questions home service businesses ask about WhatsApp

Can customers book a service on WhatsApp?

Yes. A WhatsApp Flow shows a short form inside the chat for the service, the area and a time slot. The booking reaches your team complete, and the customer gets a confirmation in the same thread.

Can technicians reply from their own phones?

Yes. Technicians and supervisors can use the Baat mobile app on Android or iOS and reply from the company's WhatsApp number, so customers never get a technician's personal number.

Can our job system send arrival updates?

Yes. Baat has an API and webhooks, so your job or dispatch system can send approved template messages when a job changes state, such as technician assigned or on the way. The API is available from the Growth plan.

Can we list our services in a WhatsApp catalogue?

Not on the WhatsApp Business Platform. Meta's Commerce Policies do not allow home maintenance services to be offered through catalogues there. Use a booking form inside the chat instead.

How do we remind customers about their next service?

Send a service-due reminder to past customers who opted in, as an approved template message. Customers who reply can pick a slot in the same conversation.
