Solar installers
WhatsApp for solar installers.
A rooftop solar sale takes weeks, from the first enquiry to the survey, the paperwork, the installation and the meter. Keep the customer informed at every step on WhatsApp, and remind them when the panels need cleaning or a service.
What does Baat do for solar installers and EPC companies?
For rooftop solar installers and EPC companies, Baat keeps a long sales and installation process on one WhatsApp thread. Enquiries get a fast reply and a short form for roof and bill details, site surveys get reminders, every stage of installation gets an update, and maintenance reminders go out after the system is running.
Rooftop solar is a long, anxious purchase. A homeowner enquires with several installers, and most do not hear back for days. After the survey, the customer waits through quotations, paperwork, approvals, installation and the net-meter connection, and calls the sales person at every step to ask what is happening. Once the system is running, nobody reminds the customer to clean the panels or book a service, so output drops and the referral never comes.

Use case
Reply to rooftop solar enquiries quickly
Every enquiry gets a first reply and follow-ups until the homeowner responds. The sales person who picks it up sees every question asked so far.
Guide
Collect roof and bill details with a form
A WhatsApp Flow asks for the roof type, the monthly electricity bill and the address area inside the chat, so the first quote is close to right.
Use case
Book site surveys and remind customers
Confirm the survey with the date and time window, and remind the homeowner the day before. A customer who cannot be home replies to move it.
Product
Update customers at every installation stage
A journey sends an update as each stage is completed: quotation, paperwork, material dispatch, installation and meter connection. Customers stop calling to ask.
Use case
Remind customers about cleaning and service
After the system is running, remind customers who opted in when the panels need cleaning or the next maintenance visit is due, and how to book it.
Example conversation
An enquiry that becomes a survey.
A homeowner asks about rooftop solar, shares bill and roof details in the chat, and books a survey. The installer has what it needs before anyone visits.
- Journey Builder: Enquiry follow-ups, survey reminders and stage-by-stage updates run on their own across a sale that takes weeks.
- Shared Inbox: Sales, survey and installation teams share one number, so the customer gets one consistent thread from enquiry to meter.
- Broadcasts: Cleaning reminders and seasonal service offers reach customers who opted in, segmented by city or system size.

Automation
No enquiry goes cold.
A journey starts when a homeowner sends an enquiry. It asks for roof and bill details with a short form, offers a survey slot, and follows up if the homeowner goes quiet.

Why do solar customers need regular updates?
Because the process is long and mostly invisible to them. Between the survey and the meter connection there can be quotations, approvals, paperwork, material delivery and installation, often over several weeks. A customer who hears nothing assumes something is wrong and calls the sales person, who may not know either.
A short WhatsApp update at each stage removes most of those calls. The customer sees progress, and anyone on your team can check the thread to see what the customer was last told.
How should solar enquiries be handled?
Reply on the same day, and collect what you need for a useful first answer. A short form inside the chat can ask for the roof type, the monthly electricity bill and the address area. With those, the sales person can give a realistic range before anyone visits, and book a site survey with a customer who is already interested.
Follow up if the customer goes quiet. Homeowners compare installers, and the one who keeps the conversation going without pressure is often the one who gets the survey.
What happens after installation?
The relationship should continue. Panels need regular cleaning, and systems need periodic maintenance. A reminder to customers who opted in, with an easy way to book a visit, keeps the system performing. A customer whose system works well is the most likely source of a referral to a neighbour.
Can solar products be listed in a WhatsApp catalogue?
Installation and maintenance are services, and Meta’s Commerce Policies do not allow home maintenance and construction services to be offered through catalogues on the WhatsApp Business Platform. Quote and book them in the conversation. Financing is a financial service, which Meta’s commerce content does not allow either, so explain it to the customer directly.
What do WhatsApp's rules mean for solar installers and EPC companies?
- Meta's Commerce Policies do not allow home maintenance services, including construction and electrical work, to be offered through catalogues on the WhatsApp Business Platform. Treat installation and maintenance as services: quote and book them in the conversation.
- Financial services, including loans, are not allowed in Meta's commerce content. Explain any financing option in the conversation, not as a catalogue listing.
- Do not ask customers to send Aadhaar or other ID card numbers, bank account numbers or full card numbers over WhatsApp, including for subsidy paperwork. Meta's policy does not allow it. Collect them through your secure process.
- Message only customers who agreed to receive WhatsApp messages from you. Updates about their own installation are expected. Offers need their opt-in.
