Building Your Knowledge Base

Updated 31 May 2026

The Knowledge Base is what your AI Agents use to answer customer questions. It is organised into Collections — groups of related content sources.

Creating a Collection

  • Go to AI Agents → Knowledge Base

  • Click New Collection

  • Give the collection a name (e.g. “Product FAQs”, “Shipping Policy”)

  • Click Create

Adding sources to a Collection

Collections support four types of sources:

  • Document — Upload a PDF or text file

  • Website — Enter a URL; Baat crawls and indexes the page content

  • Text note — Paste plain text directly (good for policies, FAQs)

  • Q&A pair — Write a specific question and answer pair for precise responses

Syncing and indexing

After adding a source, Baat processes and indexes it. The source shows a status indicator while indexing. Once green, it is active and the bot can use it.

Failed sources

If a source fails to index (shown in red), check that the URL is publicly accessible or the document is a supported format, then retry.

Linking a Collection to a bot

Go to the AI Agent’s settings and add the Collection under Linked Collections. A single bot can use multiple collections and a collection can be shared across multiple bots.
