Managing Message Templates

Updated 31 May 2026

WhatsApp requires pre-approved message templates for outbound messages sent outside an active 24-hour conversation window. Templates are also used in Broadcast campaigns.

Viewing templates

Go to Settings → Channels → Templates. All templates synced from your WhatsApp Business Account are listed here with their approval status.

Template statuses

  • Approved — Ready to use in broadcasts and automated messages

  • Pending — Submitted to Meta, awaiting review

  • Rejected — Not approved; review Meta’s template guidelines and resubmit

Using a template

Approved templates can be used in:

  • Broadcast campaigns — Select the template when creating a new broadcast

  • Inbox — Click Send Template inside any conversation to send a template reply

  • Automation — Use Send Template as an action in a trigger rule or journey

Template variables

Templates can include variables (e.g. {{1}} for customer name). When sending, Baat maps these to contact properties automatically.
